What is AppletManager?

AppletManager is an application that allows you to temporarily disable (and then re-enable) applets from appearing in Qtopia's taskbar.

This is desired when an applet's function either isn't needed, or you want to free up the taskbar space for application icons.

Setting the Directory

The default directory for applets is /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/applets/. If your configuration uses a different directory, you may enter the full path into the text field, and tap the 'Set' button.

Your directory preference is stored in $HOME/Settings/appletmanager.conf.

Enable/Disable Applets

Files in the directory that end in '.so' will be displayed in the list box with an icon indicating whether the applet is currently enabled or disabled:

To enable or disable one or more applets, select it in the list and tap the appropriate button. Disabled applets are hidden from qtopia by prepending a '.' to the filename. Applets are re-enabled by removing the '.' from the filename. When you quit the application, you will be prompted to restart your window manager (typically Qtopia or OPIE) for the changes to take effect.
